ABOUT THE JOB: Sentara Healthcare is recruiting for an experienced and creative leader to serve as Director of Pharmacy Operations at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.   Sentara Healthcare is an award-winning 10 hospital, 2,349 bed integrated healthcare system with an HMO, a home health agency, long-term care and assisted living facilities, plus many other health-related support services.  As the region’s first Magnet Hospital, Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, a 525-bed tertiary care facility, is home to the area’s only Level I Trauma Center, burn trauma unit and nationally ranked heart program at Sentara Heart Hospital.  Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is recognized as the number one ranked hospital in Virginia in the 2013-14 America’s Best Hospitals ranking of U.S. News & World Report. In the 2013-14 ranking, the hospital earned two national rankings for the heart and nephrology programs.

In this position you will be directly responsible for day to day operations for Pharmacy Services at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and will also have direct management authority of pharmacy managers at Sentara Leigh Hospital, Sentara Princess Anne Hospital and Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital.

You will serve as a mentor by role modeling a professional practice consistent with organizational goals, customer service, clinical effectiveness, and standards of care.  You will integrate performance improvement initiatives and measurement with accreditation and regulatory processes, system-wide goals and objectives, standards of care, and pharmacy and other policies and procedures.

Position requires B.S. or Pharm.D. Degree from an accredited college or university of pharmacy.  Residency or other postgraduate education and experience related to leadership, quality improvement, and accreditation/regulatory processes strongly preferred.   Five (5) years recent hospital pharmacy management experience including leadership success with performance improvement and measurement, and with regulatory accreditation.  Management experience in integrated healthcare systems preferred.  Must be registered Pharmacist licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia or eligible.
